“Isn’t That?…. Oh Never Mind”: 28 Memes That Show Celebrities And Their Doppelgängers In A Funny Way By This German Artist

People love memes that express their feelings about things and push them to consider ideas from new angles. Celebrity memes are no different as Thomas Pohl, a 40-year-old artist from Stuttgart, Germany, creates funny collages and illustrations on his Instagram page.

Pohl’s most popular series, though, is “Isn’t that?….oh never mind” which uses the Peter Parker glasses meme template to compare celebrities and their doppelgangers, be it animals or other people.

Thomas told Bored Panda how he started off with his memes and collages.

“I came up with making my artworks with absolutely no intention.

It all started with funny/stupid self-made birthday cards for my friends where I put their heads on erotic scenes… and one of them told me to go on with this to create more weird stuff… so I ended up on Instagram in 2016 and the rest is history.

Side fact: the name ‘suckertom’ was first the name of my streetwear label (which is still in progress).”

We noticed that most of Phol’s work contained celebrities so we asked the artist if there was any reason behind that.

“To be honest, there is no special reason behind why I create mostly funny celebrity stuff. For me, it’s just super fun to combine celebrities (or also famous movie scenes) with a funny or weird context, that’s all… Well, ok, It‘s also really cool when some of them see and repost stuff from me, like Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead, he reposted a work series from me on Twitter a few weeks ago. That was mind-blowing!”

The artist is not stopping anytime soon when it comes to his work, “As long I have ideas for this topic…but as I said, I’m also creating stuff without celebrity background, depending on in which direction the concepts and ideas go.”

When asked about how he’d describe what he does to others, here’s what Thomas told us.

I always said one thing to others, ‘I’m just creating weird, funny, and twisty stuff to entertain the people a little bit,…nothing more, nothing less.’ Do my works have an added value or impact on other people? I couldn’t answer this question in the past.

But a few weeks ago, a woman who follows me reposted one of my works (it was a work with censored breasts for a context), as always, I thanked her for sharing, and she answered me:

‘I’m sitting in a hospital having breast cancer treatment and it’s hilarious art like this that makes all the sitting around and waiting bearable. Art is powerful!’

To which I replied, ‘Oh, sorry to hear that, but I wish you and the others all the best for recovery.’

Within her last message she said, ‘It’s all good! Just wanted to tell you that art like yours gets some people through some really shitty days! Xx’

I had nothing more to say, but I think messages like these are very touching.”
