IT’S impossible to scroll through Instagram without spying envy-inducing holiday photos that have been taken in picturesque locations around the world.
But social media can be VERY deceiving – and blogger Chessie King has proven why with very telling side-by-side photos.
The 24-year-old internet star, from London, has shared a series of photos that show how easy it is to manipulate your snaps.
Changing up your posture, location and angle of the image can completely alter the finished effect.
As well as this, using editing and retouching software can enhance your features.
The lifestyle blogger is determined to show her followers that not everything you see online is what it’s like in real life.
Since embarking on this body confidence project, Chessie hopes to help change perceptions.
She recently shared a photo of herself in a pink bikini, revealing one that she had deleted.
Chessie said: “Left photo: Favourited out of the 8 taken & posted. Right photo: Immediately deleted & forgotten about. Both photos unedited & seconds between them.
“I do so many of these but this one is my scariest & most exposing so far.
“I was going through my recently deleted folder ready to ‘delete all’ but saw the right photo & recovered it. I felt this sense of guilt that I’d deleted it & posted the left one.
“A year ago I would’ve been left feeling so unhappy by how I look on the right & deleted it forever like it never happened but it was a huge reminder for me today that Instagram can be such a ‘perfection trap”.
This isn’t the first time Chessie has emphasised the deceptiveness of the camera.
Other snaps have shown her changing her pose and the camera angle to create the illusion of a toned tum.
She also revealed how easy it is to airbrush over your skin to make it appear flawless.
